BELLINGHAM – The Bellingham Farmers Market will open for the season – its 18th year – on Saturday, April 3.
The traditional Tossing of the Cabbage with Mayor Dan Pike will take place at 10 a.m. Live music will be provided by Jazz Project and Amber Darland. More than 90 vendors selling produce, food, crafts, flowers and more will be on hand, as well as several nonprofit organizations sharing information about their work in the community.
A number of east county farmers and crafters attend the market, including Glacier Glass Works, Osprey Hill Farm, Sunseed Farm, Alm Hill Gardens, Nooksack Nine, Cloudy Mountain Pottery, Sumas River Farm, Rabbit Fields Farm, Holistic Homestead, Backlane Gardens and others.
New vendors this season include Silver Springs Creamery (eggs, butter, milk, and cheese), Juice Peddler (bike-powered smoothies), The Baker’s Cousin (gluten-free baked goods), and Bison Bookbinding (letterpress notecards, books, and journals). By mid-May, more than 100 vendors are expected each Saturday.
The Market will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  For more information, including a complete list of vendors, visit www.bellinghamfarmers.org/.
